Hey there! 👋 Ever looked at your phone and thought, “I wish my emojis looked a bit different?” Well, you’re in luck! Changing emoji colors on an Android is super easy. And guess what? There are a bunch of keyboard apps out there to help you do just that. One of my favorites? Google Gboard. It’s awesome!

Story Time: A while back, my uncle, who’s got this cool Pixel 3 phone, asked me the same question. He was like, “How do I change the color of my emojis?” So, I showed him how. And now, I’m super excited to share that emoji magic with you too! 🌟📱🎨

How Do I Change My Default Skin Tone Emoji?

You can! I’ve got two super simple ways you can try:

Method 1: Use Google GBoard

First off, Google GBoard might already be your keyboard buddy. If it’s not, no worries! Here’s how to get it and set it up:

  1. Getting GBoard:
    • Not seeing GBoard when you type? Head over to the Play Store and search for “Google GBoard” to download it.
  2. Setting it Up:
    • Tap on your phone’s Settings app.
    • Dive into General Management > Languages and Input.
    • Keep scrolling until you find On-Screen Keyboard and tap it.
    • Now, hit that +Manage keyboards option.
    • Look for Gboard and make sure it’s toggled on (looks like a switch!).
    • If a little warning pops up, just tap Ok.
    • After that, click on default keyboard and choose Google Keyboard.
  3. Changing That Emoji:
    • Launch GBoard by typing in any app.
    • Spot the smiley face down there? Tap it!
    • You’ll see some emojis with a tiny arrow. Those can change color!
    • Press and hold one of those emojis to see the skin tone magic.
    • Pick the color you like and you’re set!

Method 2: Rely On An App

Some apps, like Telegram, Twitter, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger already have this cool feature built in.

Here’s how you roll:

  1. Open up any of the apps mentioned above.
  2. See that smiley face icon? Yup, you guessed it, tap it!
  3. Now, pick your favorite emoji from the bunch.
  4. Press and hold that emoji… And voila! Color options!
  5. Just like before, choose the one you like.

Why Are Emojis Yellow?

Changing the emoji color on an Android phone is like a walk in the park. But here’s a fun question: Why are most emojis yellow? Well, yellow is like sunshine in a color. It stands for happiness, hope, and all those warm and fuzzy feelings. So when you send a yellow smiley face, it’s like sending a little bundle of joy!

How Do You Update Emojis On Android Phone?

Google is always up to something cool. They regularly roll out new updates and with those updates come shiny new emojis. To make sure you’re not missing out:

  1. Update Your Phone:
    • Jump into your phone’s Settings.
    • Navigate to About > Systems.
    • Tap on your software version. If it’s not the latest and greatest, a message will pop up.
    • Hit Accept and let the update magic begin!
  2. Say Hello to Emoji Kitchen! 🍳:
    • This isn’t about updating, but more about having fun with what you got.
    • First off, make sure you’ve got Google GBoard. (Remember our chat about it earlier?)
    • Dive into GBoard’s settings and ensure that Emoji, Stickers & Gifs > Suggestions while typing > Emojis is turned on.
    • Ready for the fun part?
      • Launch any messaging app.
      • Open a chat or convo.
      • Tap that emoji button.
      • Choose any emoji to kickstart the Emoji Kitchen.
      • Pick another one, and voilà! You’ll see a bunch of unique emoji-sticker combos.
      • Swipe, explore, and send some wild emojis that’ll surprise your friends!

Can Android Devices Get iPhone Emojis?

Absolutely! You can give your keyboard that iPhone emoji vibe with special themes. But, and it’s a big but, these emojis will only look iPhone-y for you. When you send them to friends, they’ll see the regular Android versions.

Now, with so many options out there, which one’s the best? I personally love the OS11 emoji switcher. Why? It’s cool, it’s free, and you can grab it from the Play Store.

Can An Android Receive Animojis?

Animojis are like mini movies. They move, they groove! And guess what? Your Android can totally receive them because they’re basically just videos. But, making your own? Well, that’s a special trick reserved for Apple users… for now!

Why Do I See Boxes Instead of Emojis?

Seeing weird little boxes instead of the emojis you were expecting? That’s because those emojis are too new or unique for your Android to recognize. Maybe the sender has a newer version of Android or they’re using an iPhone. It’s like when someone tells an inside joke you’re not in on—your phone’s just a bit out of the loop!

Final Thoughts

Jazzing up your emojis? Super simple! With keyboards like Gboard, you can play around with emoji colors just by pressing down on them. And if you’re feeling that emoji envy, always remember to keep your software updated. Google loves dropping new emoji surprises!

And speaking of Gboard, it’s not just great for emojis. It’s an all-star app! You can even whip up your own custom stickers. How cool is that?

So go ahead, make your texting game strong and flaunt those emojis! 😎🚀🎉
